About me

My name is Sylvia Oreifig and I'm a citizen of the world. I'm educated as an Agricultural Engineer, I speak 4 languages and have long years of international work experience behind my back. I love to read, cook and since I always want to be useful, therefore, I started teaching myself to sew while job hunting. But the biggest reason to become self-employed is of course that I'm a mother of a lively little boy and having him has prompted me even more to establish Sylvia's Creation & More to just try to give him the best all.

Once I was on a shopping tour with my sister, who was looking for a bag to buy and she had her eyes set on a bag that cost a lot of money, still did not convince me that, it was worth it, so I asked her is she could and would wait a little and I would make her one (since I've been playing around with fabric and sewing to fill my time while job hunting for the dream job). This resulted in a long talk about what she likes in a bag and about her habits in carrying one. That was 3 years ago and here I am opening my own e-shop selling bags of my own design and make. I want also to say thank you for my darling husband, who's been there for me all the time and is OK with having fabric all around and a sewing shop on our dining table. Thank you Tomas.

Sylvia's Creation & More has more to the name, this eshop is going to be featuring regularly my own designs/work in bags, one-cup tea cozies and garlands. As I come along to become fully organised, this shop will also be displaying the unique work of some very talented people who produce fantastic quality designs of different things, be it painting on silks, knitting, drawing, etc... Please do drop by from time to time.

About my bags

I tend to have a bag that is fitting my needs for the specific journey. Personally I do not like very big handbags: I don't like to carry a heavy one all the time which also dictates that I just love to travel light at all times.

I want my bag to be durable but still not made of leather or even worse artificial leather; therefore, I usually use all sorts of natural fabric.

I pre treat all my fabrics (given that the fabric allows it) to enable my bags to handle a trip in the wash machine should it need cleaning. Of course one should keep in mind the type of fabric, handles and embellishment the bag has.

Keeping in mind the purpose of the bag, I support each and every bag with fusible, iron-on interfacing and adding of extra supportive layers to make them last longer and still keep their form and looks.

My bags are unique and I will always thrive to make one of a kind bag (even though if anyone is asking me to remake a bag displayed in my gallery e.g. my weblog (www.sylvias-creation.blogstop.com). I will not make the exact and same design). Having said that, I'm open to design a bag upon request, please read more about this in "Design Your Bag"
